Subscribed members will receive a weekly email from Heather Beatty about where to meet for the 8 a.m. start, options for distances and scheduled routes, and where to go afterwards to meet for coffee/breakfast. You can also find this information on our ORCA FB page.

Start and Finish at Creekmore’s Coffee at 2701 Alberni Hwy near Hwy 4 junction. Exit parking lot toward Coombs. Turn Lt onto Alberni Hwy. Run to Winchester Rd. Turn Rt on Winchester, run up to Grafton. Turn Rt on Grafton to run to Pratt Rd. Turn Rt to run down Pratt to Palmer Rd. Turn Lt on Palmer to run Howard, Right on Howard. Turn Lt on hwy to run to Hilliers Rd. Cross hwy, run down Hilliers and follow it back to Hwy 4. Cross hwy to continue on old Coombs Rd (partly paved). Take short dirt trail to cross railway tracks and continue up Coombs Rd to rejoin the Alberni Hwy. **Turn left to run along hwy to Coombs Station Rd, turn right on Grafton Ave, Right on Winchester Rd, run to Alberni Hwy, turn left return to Creekmore’s. 19.62km
**Please Note if you don’t wish to run through Coombs as it can be busy, you can turn right at Alberni Hwy, left at Winchester, right at Grafton ,right at Pratt, right at Palmer, left at Mclean, right at Alnerni Hwy back to the start. This will be just over 20km

***Please note if you need to get 16km when you are almost finished turn left off Alberni Hwy on Winchester Rd, Right on Palmer Right on Mclean, Right on Alberni Hwy back to Creekmore’s


Note: to cut this route to 12km, turn right off Winchester onto Palmer, follow Palmer across Pratt, continue to Howard, turn Right** follow 14.59 km route from here.

Start at the end of View Rd Qualicum, Lot of great trails too, so you can pick the one that suits you.

Start at the very end of View Rd, off Hollywood in Qualicum Beach. (No address: see map)

Run down View Rd, turn left on Bennett Rd. Turn Right down Sunrise Dr, run to Drew Rd. Turn Left on Drew Rd. Cross Hwy at lights, this turns in to Johnstone Rd, continue down Johnstone to Pintail Dr, turn Left on Pintail, this will turn in to Eaglecrest Dr. Turn Left to run up the hill on Country Club Dr.

At the top of the hill cross the Hwy to Village Way, continue along Village Way to Hollywood Rd, turn left. Stay on Hollywood, you will cross Fern Rd, carry on to the foot path across the Railway tracks. continue on Hollywood past Garden Rd, continue on Hollywood, cross Rupert Rd back to View, turn Right to Finish.

: Alternately you can run the Rail Trail out and back, this gets you off the road with a fairly smooth surface.

Turn Right on Nuttal Dr, turn right on Prawn, cross Dorca Point Rd, stay slightly right  to Path to beach, run to the water then turn left along the beach for a short distance, take path back up to Haidi Way, turn Right.

Run along Haida Way to Seacrest, turn left. Turn Right on Marina Way, follow Marina to Reef Rd, turn left onto Reef, this will turn into Marina Way, stay on Marina to Claudet Rd, turn Right.

Stay on Claudet out to NWB Rd, turn Right on NWB Rd.

Run to Saunders Rd. Stay Right on Saunders, this will turn into Saddle Dr.   Saddle will take you around back to Saunders, stay right.

Turn Right on NWB Rd. Turn Left on Stewart Rd, at the bottom of the hill take the small Rd back into Moorecroft.

Stay on Butler, turn right at Craig St, take next right on Despard, turn left on Corfield, follow Corfield across Island Hwy down to the Curling Club, turn Right,
follow Beachside Drive out to the end of the Beach, loop around to follow the path back along the ocean, stay on the Boardwalk to Mcmillan St, run up the hill to the Island Hwy, turn right, follow hwy to Dogwood St turn right, follow Dogwood to Bay St, turn right. Continue on Bay to Willow St, turn right follow Willow to Soriel, turn left. take next right on Temple St, stay on Temple to Aberdeen, turn left, follow Aberdeen around, it will turn into Sanderson, stay on Sanderson to Pym St, turn right.
***Cross the Island hwy on Pym St. Turn right on Humphrey, follow Humphrey to the traffic circle, stay left to Church Rd. Look for the paved path on your left about 200 meters up Church Rd, turn left follow the path out to Renz Rd, turn right follow Renz around the corner to Hirst St, follow Hirst to the Paved path, turn right follow the path back to Despard Ave, turn left, back to the park

See you at the QBCC parking lot for our 8:00 a.m. start this Saturday. Meet after at the Quality Foods café on the 2nd floor.

18K Route:

Follow the logging road back the way you came. this should be 11.17km.

Saturday, June 10th: Hit the Trails!

We have a great opportunity to run on the Light House community Trail System in Qualicum Bay. About 12KM but there will be options for shorter routes. Kris will bring a few map copies to share.

We’ll be leaving at 8 AM. Car Pooling from the Water tower at the old train station in Parksville just off the Alberni Hwy across from Buckerfields. Driving from Parksville to Qualicum Bay on the old highway, turn left on Lions Way in Qualicum Bay, turn right on Lioness Blvd. The trail head is at the end of the road. Lots of parking.

The run will be around 11-12 kms with options for shorter distances. Easy pace. Dogs and well behaved runners welcome.

Those that wish do not wish to participate, you can Start from Serious Coffee, following routes shown below.

Start: Serious Coffee parking lot.
Take dirt trail to Craig Bay parking lot at end of Franklin’s Gull Rd. Run down dirt trail toward ocean along perimeter of Craig Bay Estates. Continue on dirt trail parallel to ocean front, this joins Bay Dr. Turn Rt on Terrien Rd. Run up to NW Bay Rd, turn Rt. Run back on trail that borders Craig Bay Estates to Franklin’s Gull. Turn Lt to cross Island Hwy on Franklin’s Gull. Turn Lt at Herring Gull Way in industrial area. Follow Herring Gull to Industrial Way. Turn Lt to run on Industrial up to hwy, cross Hwy when Safe. Run down Rathtrevor Rd, turn Right at first Rd, run to the end of last parking lot, stay Rt on path follow it along the beach all the way to the exit at Shorewood Dr, follow Shorewood to Mariner Way continue on Mariner to San Malo, follow San Malo back to Shorewood Dr this turns in Plummer Rd, follow Plummer back to Hwy turn Rt. Cross the Orange Bridge, turn Right on Martindale Rd, follow around to Turner Rd, turn Left on Shelly Rd, left on Pioneer Cr, Left at Hwy, cross over the bridge back past the Log Cabin Store to Resort Dr, continue on Resort to Sunrise Ridge Resort take the trail on your right to Repo Depo, follow Hwy, cross Arbutus to the parking lot at Serious Coffee.

Location: Moorecroft Park, Nanoose Bay (Just off Stewart Rd). Parking Lot near caretakers cabin.

Coffee after at Perks beside QF at the Red Gap Collins Crescent.

Road runners: See 8/11/16.58kmroutes with optional 20-22 km distances.

Trail Runners: There is a great selection of trails on the other side of Stewart Rd, also great trails through Moorecroft Park; walkers could really enjoy these trails.

Start at Moorecroft Park of Stewart Rd, follow trail through the park, stay left toward La Salva, run down LaSalva, turn left on Clayton Cres. Turn Right on Nuttal Dr. Right on Prawn. Cross Dorcas Point Rd to Path to beach, run to the water then turn left along the beach for a short distance, take path back up to Haidi Way, turn Right.

Run along Haida Way to Seacrest, turn left. Turn Right on Marina Way, follow Marina to Reef Rd, turn left onto Reef, this will turn back into Marina Way, stay on Marina to Claudet Rd, turn Right. Stay on Claudet out to NWB Rd, turn Right on NWB Rd.

Run to Saunders Rd. Stay Right on Saunders, this will turn into Saddle Dr.   Saddle will take you around back to Saunders, stay right. Turn Right on NWB Rd. Turn Left on Stewart Rd, at the bottom of the hill take the small Rd back into Moorecroft.

Note: to add distance to this route, add 2 more loops to the Saunders and Saddle section, or at the finish you could head back through the Park to run La Salva to Clayton, out to Claudet, turn around and go back (for 21-22km).

Stay on Claudet out to NWB Rd. Turn Right on NWB Rd. Turn Left on Stewart Rd, at the bottom of the hill take the small Rd back into Moorecroft
