ORCA’s Man of Steel Rocks Kona Ironman
At 71 years of age, Parksville’s Barry Carr completed his “final” Ironman triathlon at the Kona Ironman World Championship, finishing with honour in 16:37:27. Awesome athleticism and determination! This has been an extraordinary journey and we are so proud of your accomplishment, Barry!
Barry earned a spot in the Oct. 8 Ironman Triathlon World Championships in Kailua-Kona after qualifying on August 21 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. In completing the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and full marathon run of 26.2 miles, he spent nearly 17 hours on the course.
Barry Carr is ORCA’s Race Director!! Way to Go, Barry!
Word has it that Sue was the only one to sustain a sports injury after all the walking to reach transition and cheerleading sites. Go, Sue–an elite IronFan!
