Any ORCAs interested in coaching young runners? Here is a letter from coach Jane Waite, who needs help this Spring (firstname.lastname@example.org):
It was great to reconnect/meet some you at our registration night last week. I am looking forward to seeing you all after Spring Break for track start on April 3rd.
We are in need of JD coaches this year, I have spoken to some who may be interested, but am sending to all , incase there is some hidden track and field enthusiasts out there. The commitment would be once or twice a week for 1.5 hours. If you can’t make a week or two we can work around it.
There is a track and field sport coaching course in Nanaimo at the Nanaimo Track April 13-15th. It is an entry level course which teaches you a little bit about all the the events. You get to try your hand at shot put, discus, javelin, high jump , long jump, warm up / cool down exercises & you learn about the lines on the track, rules for starts finishes and running events. The friday night is about nutrition / ethics / running a practice and general info , the saturday /sunday is technical/practical information on running , jumping and throwing events. You have to bring your shorts / exercise clothes and a sense of fun (and probably some water). If your son or daughter are doing track it will give you some insight and help you help them.
The club will cover the registration cost, just keep the receipt and give it to me or our new treasurer Rachel. You can register and find more info at nanaimotrackandfield.com and follow the links for the Sport Coach Clinic there.
If you help out with coaching , reply to this email. I’d love to hear from you!
